The Comox Archives and Museum Society is hosting its annual general meeting on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 2 p.m.
The AGM will be taking place in the Comox Lion鈥檚 Den which is located below the Comox Museum.
鈥淓veryone is welcome,鈥� said CAMS president, Pam Moughton.
The guest speaker will be Rev. Sulin Milne, who will be talking about the 130th anniversary of St. Peter鈥檚 Anglican Church. St. Peter鈥檚, which was rebuilt in 1939, has been a cornerstone of Comox life since the early pioneer days. The museum is hosting an exhibit to commemorate the event.
鈥淚 hope you will also find time to visit our museum,鈥� added Moughton. 鈥淎mongst our many displays, we are hosting a fascinating travelling exhibit, on loan from Craigdarroch Castle. If you missed it last time it was in the Comox Valley, this is a great opportunity to learn about Elinor Dunsmuir who lived at the top of Comox Hill in the 1930s.鈥�
Elinor was the granddaughter of coal baron, Robert Dunsmuir, and daughter of B.C. Premier, James Dunsmuir. She was an incredibly talented woman; a gifted musician and composer who is only now being fully appreciated. View a glimpse of her life and listen to some of her music which is also available for purchase at the museum.
The Comox Archives and Museum Society is again delighted to welcome visitors between noon and 4 p.m., Thursday to Saturday. The museum is located at 1729 Comox Avenue (opposite the Comox Mall.) Admission is free.
