The Comox Valley Airport (YQQ) will again partner with the Comox Valley Arts Council to exhibit the talents and vision of local artists with creations based on a theme related to living in Northern Vancouver Island.
This year’s exhibit, titled “Expressions of Gratitude”, will run from November 2018 to May 2019.
“Living on Vancouver Island, we are blessed with magical surroundings, a vibrant community and vast creativity,” said Dallas Stevenson, executive director of the Comox Valley Arts. “We are fortunate to have the Comox Valley Airport place a high priority on showcasing the talented artists in this area.”
In this call for submission, the airport is seeking two- and three-dimensional art pieces that highlight the region’s landscape, environment, people, places, activities, or the artist’s own unique interpretation of the essence of Vancouver Island. Art submissions may be in the form of paintings, original prints, photography, mixed media, textiles and/or sculpture. The exhibit is open to all artists residing in the Comox Valley Airport’s catchment area of Northern Vancouver Island.
“It’s important to create that great first impression,” said Fred Bigelow, CEO at YQQ. “This exhibit allows us to showcase the unique and spectacular beauty that surrounds us in the Comox Valley to the thousands of people who pass through our airport.”
Entries will be accepted until Aug. 31. Submissions must be made online at www.comoxvalleyarts.com. Applicants are encouraged to review the guidelines carefully before making a submission.
