The Glacier Newcomers Alumnae Association recently donated $2,000 to the Pastor’s Pantry of St. George’s United Church. The Pastor’s Panty provides non-perishable food items to those individuals and families in our community that need support to enable them to make ends meet. Funds are raised through a monthly 50/50 draw and by individual member support. At a recent Kiwanis Club of Courtenay meeting president Robert Beers presented Alex Cho with a Kiwanis Foundation of Canada Scholarship and a Kiwanis Club of Courtenay Bursary. Alex was a student at G. P. Vanier Secondary School in Courtenay and will attend the University of Waterloo where he will study for a bachelor of applied science, systems design engineering degree.

At a recent Kiwanis Club of Courtenay meeting president Robert Beers presented Sophie Bouey with a Kiwanis Foundation of Canada Scholarship. Sophie was a student at Mark Isfeld Secondary School in Courtenay and will attend the University of Windsor where she will study for a bachelor of fine arts degree in acting.
