For the sixth year running, families of Ecole Puntledge Park Elementary will be hosting the Community Bike Swap.
The swap promises to be a convenient place to buy your next bike or to sell your old one.
The swap continues as a fundraising tradition in the Comox Valley. Originally hosted at Ecole Robb Road Elementary from 2014 - 2016, the event was passed to Ecole Puntledge Park Elementary to host in 2017. Funds raised go towards a covered bike rack for Ecole Puntledge Park, as another step in encouraging more year-round active transportation to school.
It is common for people to wonder if there is only kids bikes at this event. The Community Bike Swap is for everyone and we encourage people to bring all types of bikes as long as they are in working order. In the past, we have had a full range of bikes from run bikes all the way to high-end road bikes. Bikes include MTB, commuters, road bikes and the beach cruisers.
“The basis of the community bike swap is to get people on bikes so they can go experience the joy of biking,” said Community Bike Swap organizer Monique Robertson.
Adding joy to your life is a benefit as is celebrating sustainable living by buying a bike to take a few easy steps to green your commuting needs.
Organizers wish to thank the event sponsors - Islander Pizza and Pasta, Jamie Edwards -Real Estate Comox Valley, and Greenspace Renovations who have stepped up and sponsored for the third year in a row. The Comox Valley Cycling Coalition has generously donated the set-up and use of their bike racks for an organized bike sale.
