The Cumberland Community Forest Society (CCFS) is hosting the second event in its new 2018 CCFS Science Pub Series, where experts, elders, ecologists, artisans and local knowledge holders share stories, insights and understanding about the science and mysteries of life of earth. The next CCFS Science Pub is Wednesday, April 25, and it’s all about trees.
Join biologist Tim Ennis, clinical/master herbalist Yarrow Willard, environmental planner Nancy Gothard and medical herbalist and horticulture therapist Chanchal Cabrera, and other special guests, for engaging presentations and discussion about trees and community.
Have you heard of the emerging theory about how trees communicate and support each other through a mycelium network? What is ‘design for ecological democracy’ and how can urban trees can play a role in building healthier and happier human community? What is forest bathing and are you already doing it? How can we recruit old growth community in Cumberland, and what lives in that community?
These interactive, fun and engaging “Pub University” events include multi-media presentations, samples and “senses on” exploration, live screen printing and botanical artwork, wicked door prizes, on theme beverages and more.
Sponsored by the Cumberland Brewing Company, Harmonic Arts Botanical Dispensary, and Wayward Distillation House, CCFS Science Pub Nights are fun, educational and not-to-be-missed. Age 19+. Doors open at the Cumberland Masonic Hall at 7 p.m.; speakers start soon after.
Admission by donation and all of the event’s proceeds support CCFS and its 2018 forest purchase plans along Perseverance Creek.
