Union Bay Playground opens with a ribbon cutting ceremony with Electoral Area A Director Daniel Arbour

The Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD), in partnership with the Union Bay Community Club (UBCC), are excited to announce the opening of the Union Bay Playground.

"I am thrilled to see the new playground completed in Union Bay" said CVRD Area A Director Daniel Arbour. "This project is a true collaboration between the Union Bay Community Club and the CVRD, and I look forward to investing more in Area A recreation amenities.”

Work to bring a new playground to Union Bay began in 2023, as the previous playground was in disrepair and needed replacement. With the UBCC receiving grant funding support from the Electoral Area A Baynes Sound Community Works Funds along with funding from the CVRD’s Parks service, staff worked together with UBCC to plan and replace the playground in partnership with the many volunteers and community members that support the club.

"We are so grateful for the support of Daniel Arbour and the CVRD and all those who have made this vision a reality.  We anticipate the playground being enjoyed by local families for many years to come” said Jenny Sagan, Union Bay Community Club Board Member and Playground Project Manager.

The playground is located at 5401 S. Island Highway. The playground includes a sandbox, multiple slides and climbing structures.
