A popular program is returning to the Courtenay Library for the third year in a row this fall.

English Through Song is a program set up to improve English language skills, and to allow participants to join in with others in spirited song.

"If you know someone who speaks English as an additional language and they are looking for English practice and social connection, please encourage them to visit our song circle," a release from organizers says. "All singing voices and levels of English are welcome."

This free, drop-in program for adults is held each Monday at the library from 1:15-2:15 p.m. There is a song book provided to each participant with a wide variety of easy songs, and plenty of time is allowed for explanation and discussion. The group is led by volunteers who are experienced in working with English learners, and the atmosphere  is friendly and relaxed. The fall program starts on September 29.

The program is supported by the Courtenay Library, the Immigrant Welcome Centre, Open Door Language and Culture Society, and the Comox Valley Ukrainian Cultural Society.
