Some grey skies and drizzle didn鈥檛 stop participants from lacing up their running shoes for the annual Terry Fox Run Sunday.
Runners young and old signed up for the annual fundraiser to benefit cancer research. The event started in Simms Park Sunday morning. It typically attracts 125-200 runners. Organizers will be tallying up the pledges but hope to bring in about $2,000 for the cause.
鈥淲e get a lot of on-site registrations,鈥� says coordinator Regan Jamieson.
There are 10k, 5k and shorter distances for people at the event.
People are still inspired by Fox鈥檚 story and the continuing need for support are part of what continue to draw people to the event.
鈥淭he fact that we鈥檙e still fighting cancer and still researching cancer is a big drive for everybody coming out,鈥� Jamieson says.

For more than 30 years, people across Canada have taken part in runs to continue the spirit of Fox鈥檚 Marathon of Hope. The runs take place in 9,000 communities, and proceeds go to the Terry Fox Foundation to support cancer research. According to the Terry Fox Foundation, more than $700 million has been raised in Fox鈥檚 name for cancer research.
