VIDEO: Comox Valley SPCA’s Pooch-A-Poolooza 2018

Dogs take a dip at annual Lewis Park Pool event

The final day of the outdoor pool season at The Courtenay and District Memorial Outdoor Pool at Lewis Park was one for the dogs.

Pooch-A-Poolooza 2018 attracted dozens of dogs, and twice as many curious onlookers.

“It’s the last day of the pool being open, so we’ve invited all the pups to come down and have a good time at the pool,” said Jed McPherson, animal care attendant, Comox Valley SPCA. “The turnout [was] about the same [as 2017] but they were here quicker this year.”

Woofy’s was the sponsor of the event, which doubled as a fundraiser for the Comox Valley SPCA. Admission was by donation.

McPherson said he recognized a few of the dogs that showed up.

“There’s definitely a few that I know for a fact that come from our shelter, but there’s a lot that I recognize only because one chocolate lab looks like another chocolate lab. After a while, they all blend together.”
