Moonlight & Magic took over Downtown Courtenay on Friday night (Nov. 18) - the unofficial kick-off of the Christmas season in the Comox Valley. Entertainment was provided, pop-up art tables and exhibits, and the lighting of the 5th Street Christmas tree drew hundreds of residents to the downtown core. Here are some photos from the event.

Santa鈥檚 Workshop volunteer elves are well underway in preparing for the upcoming Christmas season.

North Island College wants to help connect students with places to live in Campbell River, the Comox Valley and Port Alberni.

On call 24/7, 365 days a year, and 100 per cent volunteer-based, the Comox Valley Ground Search and Rescue is one of the busiest ground search and rescue teams in the province. They have played a vital role in the Comox Valley for more than 40 years and for the past 25 years operations have been based at 3001 Moray Avenue but the lease is ending and a roof for the team is needed.

Comox Valley Nature is hosting an online lecture by Alexandra Morton. The lecture entitled 鈥淲hat we need to do to rescue wild salmon from further decline鈥� is on Sunday, Nov. 20, 7鈥�9 p.m.

As the community prepares to celebrate the season of giving, Home Instead encourages Courtenay and Campbell River residents to share the holiday spirit with older adults who may not have family and feel alone. Through Be a Santa to a Senior, community members can give a special holiday gift to an older adult who may otherwise go without.
