Mark this Sunday for a different dance experience at 1801 Beaufort Ave. in Comox from 2 to 5 p.m.
Gwen Spinks will do a workshop on blues dancing from 2 to 3 and be disc jockey for a variety of great music, which spans ballroom, Latin, swing, even Argentine tango.
Tickets are at the d’Esterre House office, open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. weekdays, or reserve with Arabella by phone at 250-941-8885 or e-mail at arabella888@gmail.com.
Gwen has done a lot of instructing in Nanaimo, Gabriola Island, Argentina and Europe. Her social dance philosophy is not so much about learning the steps as to plugging into the rhythm of the music and the person you are dancing with.
You will gain useful partnership skills which can be applied to all kinds of social dance and levels of expertise. Learn how to find and feel the rhythm of the music both as lead and as follow.
Blues dancing is attracting people from all kinds of dance backgrounds — in Seattle a large number of blues dancers are also connected to the Argentine tango and/or West Coast swing scenes.
