Comox Valley Celebration Singers registration opens Aug.1

Does summer have you missing your choral singing experiences?

The Celebration Singers fo Community Choirs has the remedy, with registration for three adult choirs opening soon. 

Registration begins soon – August 1 – for Celebration Singers Community Choirs at celebrationsingers.ca. Three adult choirs make up the Celebration Singers family – Grace Notes, a treble voices choir (SSAA), Men of Notes, a lower voices choir (TTBB) and Celebration Singers, an all voices choir (SATB).

Beginning in September, Men of Notes will rehearse Thursdays from 5:15 to 6:45 p.m. and Grace Notes on Thursdays from 7 to 8:30 p.m.. Both choirs will be directed by Carol Anne Parkinson, accomplished vocal instructor and choir leader, fresh off her summer with CYMC as the musical director for Hadestown.

Denise Marquette continues her fine tradition of choral leadership with Celebration Singers, meeting Mondays from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.. The choir enters its 31st year with a continuing dedication to fostering a sense of joy while developing musical excellence. All three choirs welcome new members.  

An enthusiasm for singing with others, a sense of adventure with musical genres and desire to lift the spirit with music: this describes Celebration Singers Community Choirs.

Additionally this fall, Dr. John Hooper, director of Island Voices and Professor Emeritus of Concordia University Edmonton, is offering a mini course for members of any choir. Listen, Learn and Laugh with John Hooper - Making Music Make Sense is a course designed to explore inner listening skills and the relationship to printed music.

Finding effective score markings, along with tips and tricks to find notes and rhythms, can be applied to the music for any choir. The course will run four Mondays beginning September 22 from 5:15 to 6:15 p.m..at Comox Valley Presbyterian Church.
