Two pairs of musical duos will perform in the second show in the Simms Summer Concert Series on June 22.
The first duo, Anela Kahiamoe and Michael Johnson play a wide range of music, including jazz, rock, country and blues. Kahiamoe is a multi-instrumentalist who brings a Hawaiian flair and tropical, feel-good vibes to his performances. Johnson, also known as Melancholy Micheal, is a fixture in the Comox Valley music scene, well-known for his bluesy guitar riffs and distinctive vocals.
The second is Easy Street, featuring Annie Handley and Dave Devindisch. They are skilled multi-instrumentalists who put their own jazzy spin on everything, from musical standards of the 1940s to current pop hits and their own original music.
The concert will run until approximately 8:30 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the music in the riverside setting of Simms Millenium Park, located by the 5th Street Bridge and across from Lewis Park.
Upcoming Sunday concerts in the series, all beginning at 7 p.m. at Simms Park, include Fiddelium on July 6, Spanish Boots on July 13, Blues Jam (various artists) on July 20, Time Well Wasted on July 27, Stealing Dan on August 10 and Shotgun Kelly on August 17. The final concert is the Doobie Brothers Experience on August 24, which will also feature a food bank drive.
