On May 17, the Inner Island Surrealist Group is presenting a night of various artistic presentations in oppositional desire for a decolonization of land, mind and body.
The Inner Island Surrealist Group will fill the Abbey in Cumberland with an art installation to profess our collective disgust and contempt for the “feel good" imperial politics of Victoria Day!
The Funeral of Empire event features an opening electro acoustic percussion performance by Jesse Gentes, dance by Cathy Stoyko, poetry by Ron Sakolsky, and more.
While the declining U.S. empire engages in a spastic trade war and enables it’s Zionist colony to run amok in a genocidal rampage as part of a desperate attempt to cling to its status as high priest of capital and world hegemon, we refuse to honour the nostalgic colonialist celebration of Queen Victoria in Cumberland.
By demanding the impossible through the liberation of the imagination and mutual aid, we seek to embody the anarcho surrealist idea that another reality is indeed possible.
To cap the evening’s events, join us in shaking off our collective grief and oppression with the medicinal grooves and rhythms in an Afro-musical dance floor uprising with tunes selected by the Fools Paradise Sound System.
Come celebrate the end of an empire on this ‘imperial’ holiday weekend!
The event starts at 8:00 p.m. at The Abbey (2687 Penrith, Cumberland) and is $10-20 at the door.
