The Celebration Singers will starting a new season of song in September under the direction of Jenn Forsland.

A Highland Secondary School graduate was announced recently as one of the top prize winners in Nikon International's Emerging Talent Awards. Rebecca Bundschuh of Rebecca Amber Photography, who grew up in Comox and is now based in Squamish, was recognized for her work Going to the Chapel.

Not many people take a couple of bags of goose down, a blanket and some tanned hides with them on a trip. But that鈥檚 just what Andy Everson packed when he went to Taiwan this July. Everson and six other Canadian First Nation performers participated in the Global Indigenous Peoples Performing Arts in Taiwan. The July 27 to Aug. 3 event marked the country鈥檚 100th anniversary with a celebration of indigenous culture.

Fresh off their Canadian and U.S. tours, followed by Ontario dates supporting Young The Giant, Toronto鈥檚 own Wildlife has been invited out on the road with fellow Canadian rockers Hollerado. Wildlife is coming to the Waverley Hotel in Cumberland Sun., Sept. 25.

Two local highland dancers, Rachel Bramley, 13, and Jillian Peacock, 16, of the Brigadoon Dance Academy, have travelled to Scotland with their dance teacher, Diena Henry. They will compete at the World Highland Dance Championships at the Cowal Highland Gathering in Dunoon, Scotland this Friday.
