I was happy to see that Island Health has finally taken initiative to provide services for MAiD for people who do not want to pass away in a faith-based service institution. But, at the same time I am happy that we have had the services of St. Joseph’s in the Valley that has been willing to serve us. I had recently been in hospital and received excellent care.

I’ve just read the announcement in today’s paper that a public forum will be held on June 21 to discuss this issue (seniors residential, hospice care).

Though I no longer live in the Comox Valley I still have many people there that I care about. As our politicians dither in forming a government, taking the lead, in my new hometown of Victoria, four of our sons and daughters, aunts and uncles, moms and dads… are dying of overdose deaths every day.
