Former professional athletes forged deep ties with communities

After the traditional jazz sounds from last week鈥檚 concert the Avalanche Bar, when the Milk Crate Bandits wowed the audience with its Vancouver street music, Thursday Nov. 1 will see a more contemporary jazz style when 4/Bidden makes its annual visit to the GSJS Stage at the Avalanche (275 Eighth St., Courtenay).

The sixth annual 鈥淢emories of the War Years Musical Tribute to Veterans鈥� show will honour local war hero and retired Wing Commander Stocky Edwards, one of the last surviving veterans of the Second World War and Canada鈥檚 leading surviving air ace of that war.
