Due to temporary limited staff availability, Island Health is temporarily adjusting outpatient laboratory services in the Comox Valley to ensure a safe, consistent, reliable and efficient experience.

The downtown Courtenay outpatient lab will be closed from Aug. 5 to Aug. 8, 2025. Normal hours at the downtown lab are expected to resume as scheduled on Aug. 11.

The North Island Hospital, Comox Valley outpatient lab will continue to be open for regularly scheduled hours and remaining staff from the downtown location will be shifted to support additional volumes.

Island Health has also worked closely with LifeLabs to prepare for this temporary situation and the LifeLabs located 400 metres away from the downtown lab at 1599 Cliffe Avenue is prepared to support people’s outpatient lab needs.
