A woman has been arrested and charged in connection with a robbery that occurred on July 21, 2025, on Island Highway South.
At 8:48 p.m., police responded to a report of a female suspect who allegedly brandished a weapon and demanded cigarettes and lottery tickets at a business on the 3900-block of Island Highway South. The report indicated that she fled the area on foot and was seen entering the backyard of a nearby residence.
RCMP Police Dog Magic and his handler attended and searched the area for the suspect and for evidence related to the robbery. Forensic Identification Services also supported the investigation by thoroughly processing the scene.
As part of the ongoing investigation, a search warrant was executed at a residence in Royston, leading to the arrest of the suspect on July 24, 2025.
Charged with robbery is 39-year old Janessa Wilson.
“This arrest is the result of an excellent collaborative response by frontline members, Police Dog Services, Forensic Identification Services, and Major Crime Unit investigators,” said Inspector Mercer, Officer in Charge of the Comox Valley RCMP. “We’re also grateful to the members of the public who acted quickly and provided vital information.”
