Growing up, Chase Callewaert has always been active in sports. Since a young age, he has tried every sport from baseball to basketball, trying out for all the teams is exactly what he wanted to do.
He was introduced to football with the Comox Valley Raiders at age nine and instantly was hooked. He has played various positions throughout the years such as running back, d-line, linebacker and long snapper. Wherever he is placed on the field, he plays with determination and heart.
Callewaert has had so many helpful coaches and teammates along the way with the Raiders. He wouldn’t be the player he is today without them.
He has been the recipient of many Raiders awards throughout the years: three time team MVP, outstanding d-line, special teams player of the year, and defensive MVP.
Callewaert isn’t only a strong player, he is a good teammate and a respectful opponent while playing other teams.
Callewaert and the Raiders have had incredible seasons together so far, making it to the JB provincial finals in 2021 (cancelled due to the Lower Mainland/Fraser Valley flooding), BANTAM provincial champions 2023, and then Second place at the Vancouver Island championships 2024.
Outside of the Comox Valley Raiders football league, Callewaert has continued his training in various camps and Team BC.
At 15-years-old, Callewaert went through three rounds of try outs for U17 on the Island and Mainland for Team BC. He successfully made the top 40 players for U17 division and on the final roster heading to the Football Canada Selects championship to play the position of nose tackle.
Leading up to the championship game in July, Callewaert dedicates every other weekend to practices on the mainland for Team BC, all while playing junior varsity rugby, training in Raiders Football spring camp, and helping coach a raiders atom flag team.
