Thursday night golf at the Comox Golf Club drew 21 ladies, who played nine holes June 27.

With a fifth-place finish at the Island championship, the junior girls basketball squad earned team-of-the-year honours at Highland Secondary.

It is one thing to be invited to try out for Team BC, but it is another thing to actually make the cut. It is a tough tryout process and when complete, teams are comprised of top athletes from all regions throughout the province. This experience often forges new friendships amongst teammates. Jordan Vincent knows this well. A three-time veteran of both B.C. box and B.C. field lacrosse teams, Vincent welcomes seeing his past teammates and is eager to learn more from the coaching staff.

The Comox Valley United Soccer Club is hosting its third annual Summer Soccer Camp for kids, July 22-26 at the field at 19 Wing.

The past year was a banner year for Vanier Secondaryathletes and teams, which were recognized at the school鈥檚 annual Celebration of Excellence. Leading the charge was the senior girls rugby team, which repeated as AA provincial champions XVs.

The annual Canada Day 5th Street Mile returns this year to its traditional straight-ahead course now that Complete Street improvements have finished.

Forty-one ladies played nine holes June 20 at the Comox Golf Club.

Broken clouds on Tuesday, June 18 greeted 19 pros and 81 amateurs who teed it up for the 26th annual Glacier Greens Pro-Am tournament. Each year, the event raises much needed funds for Vancouver Island junior golfers. The format is a five-person team event, with the best two net scores on each hole counting.
