On May 11, 36 teams participated in the third and final day of the Saturday Men鈥檚 24th annual Shoot-Out at Glacier Greens Golf Course in Comox. The tournament is a two-man team event played over three consecutive Saturdays. First week is best ball, then scramble and finally the 鈥渄readed鈥� alternate shot.

Comox Valley Pickleball Association hosted its fourth annual indoor pickleball tournament, earlier this month at the 19 Wing Comox gymnasium. The tournament was well attended with 79 teams, 109 participants, 37 from the Comox Valley and 72 from outside the Valley, a total of 26 different communities. The food and the tournament organization was fantastic with some out-of-town players remarking that this was the best tournament they had attended.

Between the two of them, Dakota and Makayla Sanzana won three divisions at a judo tournament last weekend in Seattle, Wash.

Sixteen students from four different Comox Valley elementary schools came to Ecole Puntledge Park to find out who the best elementary school table tennis player is.

Roslyn Smith was the fastest runner among women in the 70-74 age bracket at her third Boston Marathon on Patriots鈥� Day, April 15. She completed the challenging course in 3:53.

Kelowna is revving up to host the 2019 55+ BC Games from Sept. 10 鈥� 14.

PACE Multisport Dodge City X, which last year became the Comox Valley鈥檚 first off-road triathlon, is adding another impressive 鈥渇irst鈥� when it returns to Cumberland Sept. 7. The 2019 version of the race will serve as the BC Cross Triathlon Championships, and will mark the first time an event has hosted a provincial championship after just one year.
