The Lupine Art & Friends Charity Lawn Bowling Day last weekend was a hit, as 56 newbies enjoyed the sunshine and music to raise funds for KidSport Comox Valley. Various prizes from 16 businesses were awarded in player voted categories like ‘best dress’, which the Brick House Betties roller derby team won handily. No one knew how to play when they walked through the gates, but with a five-minute crash course, they were rolling not ball, but ‘bowls’.
