From April 17-23, the Comox Valley RCMP responded to 11 calls for theft from vehicles. Items taken from these vehicles included, cash/change, wallets, keys, electronics and licence plates. The Comox Valley RCMP is reminding everyone, as we roll into summer, to ensure your vehicle is locked if you leave it parked for any length of time. Also ensure you do not leave anything of value in your vehicle.
Speed demon stopped
On April 17, while travelling on Hwy. 19, a Comox Valley RCMP officer clocked a vehicle doing 165 km/h in the posted 120 km/h speed zone. The driver was issued an excessive speed violation ticket. The vehicle was impounded for 30 days. (2018-4946)
Theft on McPhee
The Comox Valley RCMP were advised of a break, enter and theft that occurred to a garage located on the 500 block of McPhee Avenue, in Courtenay. A Dewalt 18V drill and older ladies bicycle were reported stolen. (2018-4996)
Prying culprit
A break and enter to a business, located on the 1500 block of Comox Road in Courtenay, was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on April 20. An unknown person(s) had pried open a locked door, however nothing was reported stolen. (2018-5047)
24 hours to sober up
While conducting patrols in the Cumberland area, a Comox Valley RCMP officer conducted a traffic stop with a vehicle. The driver was found to have consumed alcohol before driving. As such, the driver was issued a 24-hour driving prohibition. (2018-5077)
Smashed windows
During the early morning hours of April 21, the Comox Valley RCMP responded to a report of mischief, which occurred at a business located on the 1800 block of Cliffe Avenue, in Courtenay. An unknown person had thrown a rock through the front window of the lobby.(2018-5088)
The Comox Valley RCMP received a second report of mischief to a business that same day. The business, located on the 1300 block of Comox Road, in Courtenay had several windows broken overnight. It did not appear that the business was entered. The Integrated Forensic Identification section is assisting with this investigation. (2018-5089)
Smashed plates
A break, enter and mischief was reported to the Comox Valley RCMP on April 21. An unknown person(s) had entered a building located on the 1200 block of Fenwick Road, in Merville. Once inside the building, nothing was stolen, however several dishes were broken. (2018-5096)
