Dear editor,There have been numerous letters concerning the decision on a new hospital. It seems no one in VIHA, Victoria or the local municipal authorities is paying any attention! Common sense is passed out liberally but does anyone in position of serving the taxpayers pay any attention? A professional opinion was sought and paid for but it seems to gather dust on a shelf somewhere! A central hospital at a saving of some $200 million should provide some 'common sense' to the decision.A short drive to a centralized location that provides specialty care that would otherwise only be available in Victoria or the Lower Mainland seems like a pretty easy decision. If our local communities are bickering about who gets what, then it is time to grow up.There is a significant benefit in going back to the original advice of one hospital serving the North Island and saving millions. How can this possibly be wrong when our government is broke!Tom Witty,Courtenay
