Dear editor, I read Scott Stanfield's article about our tax dollars at work (Record, Sept. 16) with interest.

Fear of dying is common in western culture. Even the word 鈥渄ied鈥� is often watered down to more gentle phrases such as passed away, passed on, or crossed over. Those words indicate not only a desire to ease the pain of losing a loved one, but soften the path from life to death.

The B.C. Liberal attack ads on fightin' fisherman John Cummins go after his pension and his policies, and the website made him look like one of the aliens from Mars Attacks! In fact the whole B.C. political scene is starting to look like a bad movie from the 1990s.
