Dear editor, I should like to add my voice to that of Ms. Anne Davis in support of the shelter-challenged in our community. [Attract homeless to downtown Courtenay? They're already (t)here March 23, 2011].

It’s sad that some people seek to profit from the misfortune of others. But such people wouldn’t have those opportunities if there weren’t potential customers who were driven by fear.

Dear editor, In response to the letter from S. Friesen in regard to my letter (Why was pain inflicted at hospital in Comox?). Just for fun, are you the spokesperson for your co-workers in the X-ray department and do you also Google other patients' names from the Comox hospital to see if they show up in the doozy obituaries to see their short battle with cancer?

Dear editor, Lately I have read a number of letters to local papers from folks purporting to live in the Fraser Valley touting the worth of Run of the River hydro projects and what a great deal present and forecast BC Hydro rates are. Also a more reasoned letter pointing out that the local hydro infrastructure is long overdue for upgrades, plus a vapid article on the efficacy of Smart Meters by columnist Tom Fletcher.

Dear editor, Re: letters about St. Joe's and cancer. I have high-grade, fast-moving breast cancer.

Dear editor, I was diagnosed last May with cancer and throughout my treatments and followup appointments have had the opportunity to encounter many people who, like me have had many dealings with our local health services and hospital.

Dear editor, The Harper regime keeps saying that Canadians don’t want an election. Well, this Canadian does.
