The Comox Valley PeeWee Cardinals posted an impressive third-place finish at the 10-team B.C. championships in Surrey on the weekend.

It was an excitng day at the Comox Golf Club on Saturday, July 23 with the Junior North Islnd Open golf tournament going a three-hole playoff.

The heat goes on for Courtenay Lawn Bowling Club members. Vern Greenhill, Archie Harris and Melie Ursulom went through the Nanaimo鈥檚 Gold Bowl with four wins in five games to take third in the 鈥淎鈥� event. Chad Kelly, Janet Butler and Pat Cutt and Peter Harding, Cath Wiseman and Dean Penny also made a creditable showing in a tough competition.

The eighth annual Aidan Acton Memorial Skate Comp goes Sunday, Aug. 7 at the Courtenay Skate Park. Organizers and Onethirtythree Skate Shop note the event will run from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the skate park, located at 1951 Lerwick Rd.

Mount Washington hosted the fourth and final race in the GutBuster Trail Running Series on Saturday, July 23.
