From the Comox Valley and beyond, riders are hitting the road and trail with purpose from Aug. 1 to 17, riding and raising funds to ensure no family faces medical travel alone. The annual YANA Ride supports You Are Not Alone (YANA), a local charity that provides travel funding and accommodation for families who must leave the Comox Valley to access medical care for a child under 19 or an expectant mother.

Every ride tells a story. Some pedal in gratitude. Others ride in hope. All are united by the desire to help local families through some of their most difficult days. Whether it’s a lap around the block or a multi-day trek, the 2025 YANA Ride welcomes all ages, all abilities, and all wheels—mountain bikers, roadies, e-bikers, cruisers, and trike-riders alike.

Last year, YANA said “yes” to 271 families and supported 588 medical trips, offering nearly $350,000 in direct funding and accommodation help. That’s 588 moments where a child was where they needed to be, and a family stayed together. As the need grows, so does the importance of this community-powered event.

Riders can register online, collect pledges, and choose their route and distance. Whether it’s a team effort, a family cruise, or a solo trek, every dollar raised brings a family closer to the care they need.

The Ride wraps up with the beloved Party in the Park on Sunday, Aug. 17, from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Comox Marina Park. This by-donation, family-friendly celebration is packed with heart and fun: live music, a beer garden, seaside snacks, bouncy castles, face painting, yard games, and the always-popular Little Wheelers track for the youngest riders.

Supporters can also bid in the silent auction, try their luck in the Golf Ball Drop and 50/50 draw, or simply come down and cheer on the riders who’ve pedalled with purpose all month long.
