Arden Elementary in Courtenay is one of 12 B.C. schools to receive up to $10,000 for a pilot program aimed at getting a greater number of students walking and biking.

Over the last two years the City of Courtenay has been asking the community how the city should grow over the next 10 years through a comprehensive update of the Official Community Plan (OCP). With council’s direction that the plan be climate-friendly and embed principles of reconciliation, equity and community well-being, the OCP is an ambitious vision for Courtenay’s future.

The 2022 YANA Big Love Benefit will take on a fully-virtual format again this year in support of Comox Valley families. The organization had initially hoped and planned for an in-person gathering, but with the most current health orders extending through to Feb. 16, just nine days before the event, organizers had no choice but to pivot the fundraiser to take place online.

Weather dependent, two overnight closures are now planned this weekend for the 5th Street Bridge Project.

The numbers are in, and Comox Valley residents can give themselves a collective pat on the back.
