North Island College is hosting its annual Orientation Day Tuesday, Sept. 3 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. to kick-off to the new college year. All NIC students are invited.

The sixth annual Royal LePage Petite Fondo is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 8. Cyclists choose to ride 44, 55 or 75 km on scenic Comox Valley country roads with three rest stops where participants can sample wine, refill water bottles and refuel with a snack at 40 Knots Vineyard &Estate Winery, Beaufort Winery, and Blue Moon Winery and Ciderworks, then return to Royal LePage for a wrap-up barbecue.

Group holds Friday night sky-watching sessions throughout year

The Campbell River Courtenay and District Labour Council is holding a free family-friendly Labour Day celebration at the Merville Hall, 1245 Fenwick Road. Everyone is invited to enjoy live music, kids’ games, and a free barbecue lunch (salmon if available, hamburgers, hotdogs, salads, watermelon, juice, and more). There will be jugglers, a bouncy castle, face painting, and other activities for children. It’s all happening from noon to 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 2.
