The Comox Valley Aquatic Centre is slated to close for its annual summer maintenance.
The pool will be closing from Aug. 9 to 29 for maintenance. The annual shut down gives staff the chance to clean deeply and to repair or replace any infrastructure that needs maintaining.
鈥淓ach year the recreation team completes maintenance shutdowns to update infrastructure and complete required facility maintenance,鈥� said Jennifer Zbinden, Senior Manager of Recreation Services. 鈥淭his year based on feedback from the community we have staggered the maintenance shutdowns to ensure that one facility is always open. We understand and value our patrons and know how important access to recreation is year-round.鈥�
The sports centre pool will remain open during the aquatic centre shut down. There will be a brief opening period on Aug. 11 from 8 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. for fall recreation guide registration. Both the sports centre and the aquatic centre will be closed Aug 30, 31, and Sept. 1, and will re-open on Sept. 2 with the fall schedule in effect.
