James will often hold extra practices or stay late to ensure the needs of each athlete are met.

His leadership extends beyond coaching. He has been a valued leader in the growth of Special Olympics BC Unified Sports programs on the Island. In Comox Valley, he organized and hosted a try-it event where athletes in the community were able to try the different sports Special Olympics BC – Comox Valley offers. As a result, the community saw new athletes register and continue.
