Comox Valley Raiders kick off fall season with big plans and big dreams

The Comox Valley Raiders are charging into the fall season with momentum, growth, and big plans

With more than 500 youth registrations annually and over 100 volunteers supporting operations, the club has become one of the region’s most dynamic youth sports organizations.

Raiders teams across multiple age groups take to the field in July and August. The U19 and U16 football and cheer teams, who both placed second in the Island Finals last year, will compete in the Vancouver Mainland Football League this season. Meanwhile, the U14 team will represent the club in the Vancouver Island Canadian Football Association, offering strong competition and regional exposure for developing athletes.

For younger players, U12 teams will compete in-house, with all games held locally in Courtenay at Bill Moore Park. The U12 program, which starts Aug. 11, is beginner-friendly, offering full gear on loan and a supportive environment that focuses on fun and learning. Registration for this level is still open.

The U9 flag football program begins Sept. 6, and in-house cheerleading for the same age group kicks off Aug. 12. These programs provide a fantastic opportunity for kids to get active, make friends, and build foundational athletic skills.

Fans of youth football and cheer will have plenty to look forward to, as games and cheer performances will take place every weekend starting Labour Day. The Raiders have become a staple in the community sports scene, regularly drawing crowds of family, friends, and local supporters.

Thanks to several years of dedicated fundraising efforts and strong backing from local sponsors, significant upgrades are being made at Bill Moore Park. A new scoreboard is being installed this summer, and tower renovations are currently underway, improvements that will benefit players and spectators alike.

The club is also planning a large community season opener and ribbon cutting event at the end of August, promising entertainment, celebration, and a showcase of local youth talent. Details will be announced on the Raiders’ website and social media channels.

With competitive teams, enthusiastic volunteers, and growing community support, the Comox Valley Raiders are set to deliver another unforgettable season.
