The Comox Valley peewee Tier 1 Chiefs hosted a “Pink the Rink” Hockey Tournament on Thanksgiving weekend. Participants came from Campbell River to Victoria, and the Sunshine Coast and Ridge Meadows. After each game, an MVP award (pink socks) was given to each team’s best player, as well as a “Digger Award” (pink puck) for each team’s hardest worker.

Halloween activities entertained young and not so young at Saratoga Speedway last weekend. Goblins, ghouls and even Mario Kart characters frolicked in the Autumn air while being involved in costume contests, pumpkin carving, car racing and car bashings. Yes, car bashings by three of the race classes, Crash to Pass, Figure 8s and Mad Max Extreme racing. As well, fans were surprised as the scary Bombers competed while haunted on the race oval by a lone long curly haired wolf in a modified racer.

Comox Valley runner sets national marathon record

Roz Smith of the Comox Valley Road Runners ran three hours, 52 minutes at the Oct. 13 Victoria Marathon to win the women’s 70-74 category and set a course record for her age group. She also set a national record, albeit unofficial, as she has yet to complete an application for the record time.
