The North Island鈥檚 Schulte Racing Team (SRT) finished a respectable second place in the 2018 Canada West Doorslammers racing series, held at Mission Raceway Park. The Doorslammers is a fast drag class with cars capable of running at least 8.70 seconds in the 1/4 mile. The primary rule is that the cars must have working doors, hence 鈥淒oorslammers鈥�. In other words, no dragsters.

Four Riptide products part of championship VIU team

Derek Vinge was crowned King of the Forest at the 14th annual Perseverance Trail Run Oct. 28. The Courtenay chiropractor set a record in the 11.5 kilometre, running the course in 50:01.

The 2005 Riptide boys played a solid game on the weekend versus Victoria South, and were unfortunate to walk away with a 1-0 loss.

Oklahoma Christian鈥檚 Abigail Rigsby played brilliantly Oct. 23 at the Lawton Country Club in Oklahoma, but still needed to put on a steely display of endurance in a four-hole playoff for medalist honours.

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings won their first game of the season Saturday at home, beating Campbell River 4-3 in overtime. Forward Finn Withey got the puck past Storm goalie Jaden Little with less than four seconds left in three-on-three double overtime.

The Sanzana sisters both won silver medals at the Rainier Judo Cup Championships in Tacoma, Wash.

In just their second game of the season, the Comox Valley Kickers men鈥檚 rugby team played the UVic Saxons Saturday in Victoria.

Play has started for the Comox Valley master鈥檚 men鈥檚 basketball group that plays at the Comox Base Community Centre gym every Sunday, starting at 11:15 a.m. and ending at 12:45 p.m.

Last weekend in Victoria, the U15 Riptide girls鈥� soccer team was looking for a second win over the U16 squad from Saanich.
