The Strathcona Nordic Ski Club hosted a Teck Regional Fall Dryland Camp late September at Mount Washington. Fifty athletes and 10 coaches from Vancouver Island took part in the initiative to better prepare young skiers for the race season.

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings lost Friday in Campbell River but rebounded Saturday at home with a 7-3 win over the Westshore Wolves.

In their first match on the mainland this season, the Comox Valley Kickers men鈥檚 rugby team beat the Surrey Beavers 46-20 on Saturday. Devon Moore, Craig Whiley and Brandon Hudson each scored two tries, Raffael Tonazzi and Derek McCubbin scored one each, and Kyle Hall added three conversions.

The junior girls volleyball team at Vanier placed seventh out of 16 teams in the top tier of a recent tournament at Vancouver Island University in Nanaimo.

Iris Churchill of Courtenay won a pair of bronze medals in slowpitch with her teams at the Hunstman World Senior Games in St. George, Utah. Each October, the two-week event attracts thousands of athletes from North America, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. It features more than 50 sports open to people over 50.

The Ecole Mark R Isfeld junior and senior boys volleyball teams acquitted themselves well at a Vancouver Island University (VIU) tournament last weekend in Nanaimo.

The Comox Valley Glacier Kings lost 6-4 to the Victoria Cougars in a Thursday road game. It was the team鈥檚 second loss to Victoria in the early stages of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League season.

Black Creek鈥檚 Schulte Racing Team (SRT) finished the 2022 drag race season with two wins in a row.

The 2021 season ended with the Comox Valley Raiders midget football team on the three-yard line, one good push from forcing overtime in the B.C. championship.
