Dear editor, Ronna-Rae Leonard, federal NDP candidate, said that B.C. should get to keep the $1.6 billion despite the fact that B.C. did not live up to their contract obligations.

Murray Presley鈥檚 15-year run as a councillor for the City of Courtenay will end this November. Presley will not run in this year鈥檚 B.C. civic elections for the two reasons he mentioned in a recent interview.

Dear editor, I read the article about the tapestry in our local Comox Valley Record (Aug. 19) and thought your writers might be interested to know that Dr. Ray Dugan, who lives in Waterloo, Ont., (a personal friend) while living in France some years ago, bought a printed reproduction of this tapestry to embroider.

We were very interested in Andrew Gower's education and achievements but he can go dance and roller blade on his own. We motorists pay taxes to use our roads, he can use the sidewalks.

Dear editor, J.M. Presley鈥檚 recent letter is a perfect reflection of the kind of attitude that caused B.C. voters to so convincingly reject the HST in this summer鈥檚 referendum.

Dear editor, Craig Dieno let us know that he dislikes Tom Fletcher's articles. I happen to disagree; Mr. Fletcher generally thinks and writes from a well-informed and reasonable perspective, and I enjoy reading what he has to say about political affairs.

Switching sales taxes isn't as simple as Bill Vander Zalm believes. There are already thousands of businesses that have never had to collect it, and thousands more who didn't anticipate having to go back to the PST.

Dear editor, Re: Connect the transportation dots (Record, Aug. 31). As someone who lived in Whistler for a very long time, it amuses me every time a discussion about the state BC Ferries includes mention of the money that was spent upgrading Highway 99 to Whistler.

Dear editor, What a summer we've had in the beautiful Comox Valley. Lots of sunshine, verdant fields, majestic mountains set against a cloud-studded blue sky.
