Courtenay councillors AWOL from their posts

Dear editor, Any elected representative who walks out of a session because he or she isn’t getting his or her way and causes the assembly’s business to come to a halt should be considered to have resigned.

Canada negotiatiing EU trade agreement in secret

Dear editor, Canada is facing a number of challenges at the federal, provincial, and local levels. Today, we are facing one particular issue that touches on all these levels of government.

Democracy passé — one dollar, one vote today's mantra

Dear editor, With DND apparently slapping down the new hospital site, that chunk of real estate will now be available to build a much larger homeless shelter next to Crown Isle. The DCBIA merchants and their mouthpieces on Courtenay council will be jumping for joy.

Dear editor, Municipal elections are coming up this fall. Issues I’d like on our Comox ballot are three referenda.

Village of Cumberland being 'played' by large corporation

Dear editor, I am concerned about the new 'town’ called Cayet proposed by the Trilogy Corporation. I am deeply concerned about water. Since decommissioning the Hamilton lake Dam in 2006, Cumberland has come close to running out of water each summer.
