Dear editor, Being on kidney dialysis for almost a year and half I have learned patience and forbearance 鈥� however, it has been more than four weeks since Health Minister de Jong stumbled his way through the grand opening celebrations of the newly renovated kidney dialysis unit in Cumberland on June 13.

Dear editor, I see the signs that say Vote Yes 鈥� extinguish the HST and it sounds good, feels good 鈥� that we can vote and get rid of a tax.

Dear editor, I am responding to a comment in your paper dated July 8 with regards to flying the Canadian flag in a strata complex. I live in a strata myself and have recently retired from the Canadian Forces after wearing the uniform very proudly for 35 years.

I feel I must respond to B. Kunz (Record, July ). As you say, businesses don't want a homeless shelter because of the homeless hanging around, etc.

Dear editor, How you mark your HST ballot has more to do with who you are than with any of the 鈥渇acts鈥� about the HST. If you are a business owner who sells a product or service which attracted GST and PST before last July, and if you now find that your accounting work is simpler with one tax rather than two, you may be in favour of the HST.

Dear editor, Perhaps when our own city council adheres to some accounting principles like full disclosure, we can look to their pithy advice on an issue such as sneaky taxation, a category that even Mr. Presley acknowledges was "a poor job."

Dear editor, On July 7, 30 elected officials, downtown merchants, Chamber of Commerce members, charity and non-profit members visited two homeless and transitional housing projects in Nanaimo and Duncan.

Dear editor, A bouquet of roses to Premier Christy Clark for her thoughts on "What can the government do to make families healthy and whole." Now I just wish she would wake up and smell those roses.

Dear editor: I just rode my bicycle to Comox along the Dyke Road.

Dear editor, David Frisch's letter titled 'Why Did Politicians Stay Away In Droves? (Record, July 6), makes a very important point of why did only seven of 22 elected politicians attend Gil Pe帽alosa's June 16 presentation?
