With great interest I, as well as many others, have been following our provincial government鈥檚 move toward increasing mineral extraction in British Columbia.

We have no fear in this valley that we will have Tim Hortons for a medical facility in the new hospital.

Last week marked the 10-year anniversary of the first WestJet plane to land in the Comox Valley. Hundreds of local residents gathered in the parking lot of the old terminal to watch and cheer as the plane touched down. I was one of those people cheering because this inaugural flight had a personal connection.

Dear editor, it seems to me that the general public is uninformed about how a compassion club operates. Every club member has to be sick, be in pain, and has to have a doctor's note. The compassion club does not sell and will not sell to non-members or to youngsters.

The Comox Valley RCMP say they had good reasons to believe the North Island Compassion Club (NICC) had become a front for marijuana dealing. The Crown, which will prosecute the case, clearly thought so when approving criminal charges 鈥� using information gathered by police.

Dear editor, OK, enough already. I find it hard to believe that while we see so many countries around the world struggling, suffering and fighting to establish some form of a democratic government, that we are involved in an action that flies in the face of our very own electoral process.
