St. George鈥檚 United Church has received $20,000 in funding from the BC Accessibility Grants Program, which will go toawards the cost of the recently completed renovation of two washrooms to ensure wheelchair access.

The team鈥檚 fundraising goal this year is $250,000, which is double last year鈥檚 goal.

North Island College hosted its annual Open House for high school students Thursday at the Courtenay campus.

Comox Valley Citizens on Patrol Society (COPS) just celebrated its 25th year in the Comox Valley. The group works with the RCMP to help to deter crime in the community.

The City of Courtenay hosted an Ideas Fair, Wednesday at the Filberg Centre, to garner feedback to update the Official Community Plan.

The new Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society (MARS) visitor centre in Merville has some great champions at Cumberland鈥檚 Euphoria Nature Preschool and Before & After School Child Care. Euphoria has visited the centre several times with various age groups and the kids have been busy raising funds to support the wildlife rescue group鈥檚 work.

Long term residential care for seniors is an issue that is top of mind for many in B.C. these days. The Comox Valley will be hosting a town hall on the theme, 鈥淏.C. Can Do Better: Residential Care in Our Province,鈥� on Sunday afternoon, Feb. 23 from 2-4 p.m. at the Upper Native Sons Hall.
